TradeRiver was founded in 2011 as alternative to conventional banking facilities and an addition to traditional trade finance. We provide a source of non-recourse working capital to enable companies to act as cash buyers.

Over the last 5 years we have provided over £100m of working capital finance to businesses in the UK. We also recently opened an office in Baltimore, USA serving the US market.

John Harley

CHAIRMAN

John retired as a Partner in EY LLP in February 2011, having run its Global Client Strategy for three years and then its Global Private Equity group. He is currently a Member of the Panel of the Competition Commission, the Higher Education Funding Council Audit and Strategic Committees, Deputy Chairman of the University of Brighton and a Senior Advisor to Alvarez & Marsal for the Private Equity sector. He also chairs the Kent Investor Network, which provides Business Angel finance, and is an Advisory Board Member of Committed Capital, which provides Development Capital to SMEs.

Richard Fossett

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

From 2003, Richard was COO of a Bahrain-based USD 400 million turnover UK-listed trade finance company. He has extensive knowledge and experience of the global credit insurance market and enjoys close relationships with all the major insurers. Prior to this, Richard had 25 years’ experience in hotel management operations with Sheraton Hotels Middle East – becoming the group’s youngest General Manager at 29. His postings included Iraq, Abu Dhabi and Cairo as well as 15 years as General Manager of Sheraton Jeddah, Bahrain and Amman hotels.

Paula McGourty

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Paula joined the TradeRiver team in 2014, bringing over 20 years of experience in finance with her. She is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant, and has previously worked at BDO Stoy Hayward as an audit manager and on the corporate finance team before moving on to become the Finance Director of a residential property company.

Guy Willans

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Guy has extensive experience across all sizes and sectors of business, having worked with a range of companies; from start-ups through to £20bn turnover businesses. An experienced financial services professional he has lent over £500m to all size businesses including FTSE100 & FTSE250. He has led businesses and worked on boards in London & SE and has worked globally in the USA, Middle East, Australasia and EU. Guy’s love of both technology and challenge saw him working in an AIM-listed tech company and now at a growing fintech business.

John Robbins

REGIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

John joined TradeRiver in 2016 and brings with him a wealth of experience from both financial services and the wider commercial world, having worked at both Barclays and HSBC. He has had extensive exposure to small and mid-sized companies, providing business finance solutions to manage cash flow and support growth, both domestically and internationally. John believes in being in-depth in his approach and truly understanding a business, so that he can provide the most suitable solution. He has thrived on developing strong relationships and ensuring the needs of his clients are being met to help them achieve their full potential.

Max Fossett

REGIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Max Joined TradeRiver in 2013 having graduated from Leeds University. As one of the first employees he has had exposure to all facets of the business and experienced much of the company’s growth. Rising his way through the ranks of back office administrator, Max’s current responsibilities include the management of client accounts and client acquisitions.

Danny Jack

HEAD OF MARKETING & CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

Danny joined TradeRiver in 2016 and brings with him over 16 years of broad marketing experience. He has considerable experience in B2B marketing and has worked in both client side and agency environments across a range of industries. He previously worked at the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) where he had responsibility for the marketing and branding across the organisation. Danny is responsible for the strategic development of TradeRiver’s branding, marketing and corporate communications.

Mike Burrage

HEAD OF CREDIT

Mike has over 37 years experience in banking and finance and his recent roles have included Regional Credit Director for Lloyds Bank and Head of Risk for Cardnet Merchant Services. He has a wealth of front line experience in Credit and Relationship management and recently worked with an established CrowdFunding business. His role in TradeRiver as Head of Credit is to work with the Credit Committee to review and approve new proposals as well as monitor and control the existing portfolio. Mike is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Financial Services.

Andrew Johns

CREDIT MANAGER

Andrew joined TradeRiver in 2016 following a successful 32 year career at RBS. Most of his career was spent in risk related areas. His last role within RBS was Head of Corporate Financial Analysis where he obtained considerable experience of analysing and assessing a wide range of companies across multiple sectors within the UK. His main role in TradeRiver is to support Mike Burrage, Head of Credit, in the review and approval of new proposals as well as the ongoing monitoring and control of the existing portfolio.

Mike Mumford

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Mike works mainly in the operational side of the company, tracking payments, processing transactions and assisting with the on-boarding process. He graduated from the University of Liverpool with a 1st class honours degree in Business Studies and spent his placement year working for an international university in Suzhou, China where he wrote copy for the university’s physical and digital marketing.

Louise Gillier

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Louise has joined TradeRiver, bringing with her considerable experience in the Supply Chain Finance industry, with specific experience and expertise around the operational side of the business. She has worked closely with suppliers, buyers and financial institutions to successfully implement global supply chain finance programmes for both an international high street bank and a top tier independent operator. She brings with her 14 years of experience in Management Accounting and Finance Project Management, spread across five different countries. Her French and Spanish language skills add to TradeRiver’s ability to communicate in a number of languages.
